Consultants/Senior Consultants
We are looking for consulting lawyers to advise our clients and work with our team, who may be those seeking a different work/life balance or those returning from a career break.
About us
We are a specialist law firm that helps businesses and individuals handle serious issues and crises that impact their reputation, privacy and freedom to operate. Our clients range from the world’s largest listed companies to prominent athletes and artists, assisting them through a diverse range of problems – from being blackmailed to facing investigations, and allegations of misconduct through to dealing with harassment and fixated risks. We believe in using the skills we hone working for the world’s elite to help those who would not otherwise have access to that advice, and campaign and advise on topics we believe in, particularly around online harms, intimate image abuse and social exclusion.
We are specialists in using media laws, while using our broad knowledge of where problems come from to devise strategies that resolve the underlying problems that cause them. We set out two years ago to do things differently in how we work and how we advise, and clients see this in long-term relationships making better decisions to handle their problems.
Our work is recognised with numerous award nominations including Crisis Management Team of the Year (British Legal Awards 2022), Boutique Disputes Firm of the Year (The Lawyer 2021) and Reputation Management Law Firm of the Year (Magic Circle Awards 2022).
The role
We are looking for consulting lawyers to advise our clients and work with our team, who may be those seeking a different work/life balance or those returning from a career break.
We offer two types of consulting role:
- Part-time work in specific hours to deliver specific tasks each week;
- Flexible consulting, to play a part in the firm but primarily step up for projects when client demand requires it.
Candidates should have experience in reputation management, investigations or other crisis-themed areas of law. Both roles require supervision and delivery of client work alongside our wider teams. Both offer significant flexibility in working arrangements.
Candidates will be supported to be part of the firm’s marketing and BD efforts, and will be incentivised to share in the financial reward of work they generate, either directly through their own network or as part of their BD work with the firm.
What we offer
Our stated aim is to develop lawyers who will go on to have better careers than the partners in the firm, by developing not only elite technical skills in the areas of law we cover, but elite skills in developing client and business relationships and learning adjacent skills that deliver more effective outcomes than clients can get elsewhere. We have recently been shortlisted for Best Employer – Career Progression at the Citywealth Future Leaders awards, along with our first trainee being recognised by the same programme as a nominee for one of the lawyer of the year awards.
For those returning to the workforce from a break, we offer support and training in getting back up to speed and re-establishing lapsed networks.
We will support you in developing the ability to build your network and generate opportunities from it, providing a platform to become a thought leader in our sector while gaining the ability to win work.
Pay will be dependent on the nature of the consulting agreement and the balance of risk. For those who have a following or will regularly generate business, we provide an agreement that will ensure you benefit from the work that arises.
You
We are looking for lawyers with experience working in reputation management, investigations or with extensive experience of other crisis areas, who are looking for a platform to develop the next stage of their career.
Our consulting roles suit experienced lawyers who need to balance other commitments in life, perhaps because they wish to have a portfolio career, seek greater work/life balance than when employed in a full-time role, or are returning to work from a career break.
You should have exemplary technical and analytical ability, strong client and people management skills and an understanding of the working of law firms as a base. We are looking for those who are intellectually curious in finding new ways to solve problems, engaged with international and current affairs and with a keen interest in understanding trends in crisis and the business world.
